Infographic – Public Liability protects your Business by Business Insurance Brokers

Business owners often ask if public liability insurance is compulsory for their business or industry.  As Business Brokers we often advise our clients according to their specific industry, however, as a guide, Public Liability insurance is not a legal requirement for all businesses in Australia (unlike Workers’ Compensation or Employer’s Liability insurance), but several industries do have mandatory public liability insurance requirements, including state government licenses like electrical and plumbing contractors.

You will find that it is usually a contractual requirement for businesses who undertake work for others such as government bodies, construction companies, shopping centres or anyone acting as a  contract principal.

It is also important to note that there is basically no difference between public liability insurance requirements in different states and territories of Australia apart from some minor exceptions in some states like the inclusion of consumer protection cover.
